Empowering the next generation in media literacy

Introducing The Student View & News UK

TSV and News UK have teamed up to present a unique press experience, to equip young people aged 11-23 from disadvantaged backgrounds with the skills they need to navigate the complex world of media and experience what it would like to be a member of the press. Our research has revealed that only 2% of 8 to 16-year-olds are able to identify fake news. We are determined to change this narrative with News UK, a leading publisher of renowned news brands such as The Times, Talksport, Virgin Radio, and The Sun.

Our joint initiative brings you Pop Up Press Day Experiences and School Takeovers across the UK during the 22-23 Summer Term. These immersive events are designed to inspire and educate young minds on media literacy while providing them with the tools to spot fake news and break into the industry.

With News UK’s expertise and extensive network of publications, we are able to offer an unparalleled experience. Imagine students from your school engaging with established journalists, participating in interactive workshops, and even having the chance to interview celebrities in press conferences streamed directly into classrooms nationwide. These fun-packed newsrooms will captivate and inspire, providing your students with firsthand exposure to the media world.

Case Study - Gunnersbury School

Earlier this year, TSV and News UK embarked on an exhilarating journey to Gunnersbury School, where we had the privilege of igniting the creative spark within young students. It was a day filled with excitement as we offered them a remarkable opportunity to conduct interviews with the talented voices behind the critically acclaimed podcast, the Receipts Show.

The atmosphere was electric as the students delved into the world of podcasting, learning firsthand from the industry’s finest. The vibrant discussions, thought-provoking questions, and genuine curiosity showcased the immense potential of these budding journalists.

Our experience at Gunnersbury School exemplified our shared vision of nurturing media literacy and empowering the next generation. Through such enriching experiences, we aim to equip students with the skills, confidence, and passion to navigate the ever-evolving media landscape.

“On behalf of Milena and I we both want to say a huge thank you for asking us to be part of the day. The students exceeded our expectations and had some really interesting and innovative questions for us and we hope they took something meaningful away from our conversation. “
